Frequently Asked Question

Taking the first step towards therapy can feel daunting. You might have questions about how it works or feel uncertain about committing time and energy to yourself.
For this reason, we will start with a free 15-minute consultation via telephone call or online video call to discuss your needs, answer your questions, and see if we are a good fit.

Your first therapy session is an initial assessment and an opportunity for us to get to know each other and begin our journey together. Here’s what you can generally expect:
Introduction: We’ll start with introductions, and I’ll provide an overview of the therapeutic process.
Confidentiality Discussion: We’ll discuss the importance of confidentiality and the limits to it, ensuring you feel comfortable and informed.
Your Concerns: You’ll have the chance to share the concerns or issues that bring you to therapy, and we’ll explore your goals and expectations.
Collaborative Planning: Together, we’ll discuss your treatment plan and develop a collaborative plan tailored to your needs.
Questions and Clarifications: Feel free to ask any questions or seek clarifications about the therapeutic process.
Remember, the first session is an exploration, and we will work together to create a comfortable and supportive space for your therapeutic journey.

While everyone’s journey is unique, we usually recommend around 8 - 12 sessions to allow time for learning, practice, and meaningful progress.
I like to incorporate reviews around session 6-8 to ensure you are getting what you need from therapy.

Yes, confidentiality is a fundamental aspect of our therapy sessions. Your privacy is of utmost importance, and we adhere to strict ethical standards to ensure that all information shared during our sessions remains confidential.
The exemption of this, is if there is a risk of harm to yourself or others. In such a case, I am legally bound to disclose information to prevent harm.
-
I understand that unforeseen circumstances may arise, leading to missed or cancelled sessions. I appreciate as much notice as possible in such cases. The cancellation policy will be discussed during our initial sessions, and I will aim to find a solution that accommodates your needs.
